COF Community Groups
What is a COF Community Group?
We see, throughout the New Testament, the blueprint of Christ-followers living together in a community structure (Hebrews 10:24, Romans 12:4-5, Galatians 6:2, Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 4:11-16, Acts 4:32). These groups were intentional gatherings where a fellowship of believers would come together for the purpose of spiritual growth, with Jesus Christ as the example.

Here at Community of Faith UMC it is our desire to identify in an authentic way with our name “Community of Faith”, as we make gathering in community throughout the week for study, prayer, encouragement and service, a priority and core focus of who we are as a church body. Partnering with a COF Community Group provides a wonderful opportunity for this to happen.

 defining a disciple

The Greek word we translate as “disciple” literally means “learner”. So in Biblical context, a disciple of Christ is one who follows Jesus and intentionally seeks to grow daily in Him throughout life. The first step in becoming a disciple of Jesus is coming to Him for salvation. If you are not a true “Christ-follower”; if you do not have a real relationship with Christ; you are not yet capable of becoming a disciple.
